Symetra Affirms Commitment To Social Impact Across Community, Environment And Governance Practices With First Corporate Social Responsibility Program


BELLEVUE, Wash. — (Mar. 31, 2022) — Symetra, a national provider of employee benefits, annuities and life insurance, today announced the launch of its first corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative—Symetra Social Impact—establishing a strategic CSR roadmap and outlining program goals through 2025. Unified under an equity and inclusion framework that emphasizes social impact, the new program integrates community, environmental sustainability, and governance efforts to more broadly influence and drive positive outcomes for customers, communities and employees.

Over the next three years, Symetra Social Impact aims to drive transformation across three priority areas — social commitments, sustainability and governance — through eight goals aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Symetra Social Impact program goals through 2025:

  • 25 Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU) scholarships by 2025
  • 65 percent employee participation in community programs by 2025
  • 40 percent paper reduction by 2025
  • Carbon neutral by 2023
  • New supplier guidelines by 2023
  • Financial literacy program by 2025
  • New employee sustainability platform by 2022
  • $150K to fund environmental programs for underserved youth by 2025
