Is coverage continued after termination of employment?
Yes. An employee continues to be covered for not more than 14 days.
What are the qualifying leave reasons?
An employee’s injury or illness that is not related to employment or to a car accident that results in an inability to do their job or any other job.
How do we determine the benefit year?
The benefit year is defined as a 52-week consecutive period.
Does a relapse period apply to recurrent leaves?
Same or related illness or accident occurring within 90 days or less, as long as the waiting period has been satisfied during the first period of disability.
Is reimbursement to the employer allowed for advance payments of benefits?
If an employee otherwise eligible for benefits is declared ineligible for benefits for one or more days because he or she received a full wage payment voluntarily made by his employer during those days, the employer shall be paid if he exercises his right to reimbursement.
Can leave be taken on an intermittent leave basis?
No. Leave is only continuous.
How are benefits prorated?
If fewer than seven days of disability occur in a benefit week, payments will be made at the rate of 1/7th of the weekly benefit amount for each day of compensable disability. Total benefits for a fraction of a week will be computed to the highest fullest dollar.
